Contaminated sunscreen lotions for kids and babies recalled

Posted on Monday, September 30th, 2013 at 9:27 am

Thousands of potentially contaminated baby and kids’ sunscreen lotions have been voluntarily recalled by W.S. Badger Co. Inc. News of the recall was reported on Wednesday, September 25 by NBC News.

The recall affects at least 30,000 4 oz. SPF 30 baby and kids sunscreen lotions that may contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida parapsilosis, and Acremonium fungi. The mentioned microbial contaminants are known to be hazardous to humans and animals. According to the manufacturer, though the recalled products had passed the required test before being released to the market, its preservatives were found to be compromised after a routine re-testing was performed.

There were no reported illnesses linked to the recalled sunscreen lotions, and consumers were advised to immediately avoid using the product and return it for a refund.

Suffering illnesses caused by recalled products can have serious consequences for the victim and their family.
