Over 2 million electric dehumidifiers manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances are being recalled due to overheating problems that may lead to fires, a USA Today report stated on September 12.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the defective appliances, of various brands and weights, caused 46 fires and around $2 million of property damage. The agency said no one was reportedly injured by the defective dehumidifiers that caused fire. The recalled appliances were sold in major stores in the U.S. and Canada from 2005 through August 2013.
Gree Electric Appliances said in a press release that consumers who own the recalled dehumidifiers should immediately stop using it and call their office for a refund.
