A Cedar Rapids car accident left two people injured Monday morning.
According to officials with the Linn County Sheriff’s Department, the two-vehicle accident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. near the intersection of F Avenue and Rogers Road. Police say 48 year-old Penny Whiting, of Cedar Rapids, was traveling north on F Avenue when her automobile was struck by a vehicle driven by 67 year-old Judith Wickman, of Robins.
In a news release, Linn County Sheriff’s Sgt. Joel Peshek said that Wickman had been westbound on Rogers Road when she pulled out into the path of Whitings vehicle, causing the accident.
Firefighters at the scene of the accident extricated Wickman from her car. Both women were transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening, authorities say. According to a hospital spokesman, neither woman was listed as a patient by Monday afternoon.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, Peshek said. The Linn County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the accident.
