Motorcyclist killed in collision with van

Posted on Wednesday, April 20th, 2011 at 12:07 pm

A motorcycle accident occurred in Parkersburg, Iowa last Tuesday at 6:50 p.m. that left one man injured and another dead.

According to reports, a 30-year-old man was riding his motorcycle down Highway 14-57 when he was hit head-on by a van. The 55-year-old driver of the van had been turning left and turned directly into the motorcycle. The man driving the van suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital. The motorcyclist died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

It is not clear why the driver of the van collided with the motorcylist, and investigations into the accident are ongoing.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with the friends and family of the man who died in this accident.
