GM to recall nearly 52k new model SUVs with software issue

Posted on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 at 6:33 pm

Automaker General Motors Co. (GM) recently issued a recall of at least 51,640 recent Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) due to a software malfunction that may fail to give accurate fuel level reading in the vehicles, Bloomberg stated on May 4.

GM identified that the 2014 models of GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave, and Chevrolet Traverse may have an issue in the engine control system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), unexpected engine stalling that may lead to traffic accidents could occur in affected SUVs if drivers are unable to determine the accurate fuel reading. The SUVs will be repaired by GM dealers by re-calibrating their fuel systems for free.

2,929 defective Jaguars in the U.S. to be recalled

Posted on Thursday, August 29th, 2013 at 8:00 am

Some 2,929 Jaguar cars in the U.S. will be recalled due to
possible stalling issues and a defective power window switch that can possibly injure
its occupants, according to a report on the 15th of August.

Stalling issues and loss of brake and steering assistance may occur in 940 XF 2-liter GTDi vehicles if
the hose clamp of the charge air cooler becoes detached. The recall also affects
1,989 XK convertibles model 2011-2013 where a defective switch may accidentally
activate the power window and injure the arm or finger of an occupant.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the two issues
will be addressed by Jaguar dealers starting September 27 by either changing or
inspecting the concerned parts of the cars for free.

A basketball player at the University of North Carolina (UNC) was suspended by his coach from playing after he was charged with reckless driving
on afternoon of Sunday, July 28.

UNC’s P.J. Hairston was indefinitely suspended by his coach Roy Williams hours after he was pulled over by Highway Patrol on southbound I-85 around 4 p.m. Hairston was charged with speeding, and careless and reckless driving. The incident was not Hairston’s first time to get in trouble with the law, as he was arrested last month for illegal possession of marijuana and driving without a license. The charges were dismissed by the court after the basketball player complied with court conditions.

Chrysler to recall SUVs with air bag and seatbelt defects worldwide

Posted on Thursday, June 6th, 2013 at 4:39 pm

Automaker giant Chrysler recently said they will recall 630,000 SUVs, an announcement that came only two days after disputing a federal request to recall 2.7 million Jeeps with gas tank defects.

Chrysler will recall Jeep Patriots and Compass small SUVs worldwide to repair its seatbelts and air bag related problems. The transmission fluid leaks of some 221,000 Jeep Wranglers will also be addressed. Starting in July, Chrysler dealers will repair the software error in the air bags, seatbelt mechanisms, and transmission fluid leaks in the recalled vehicles for free.

On June 4, Chrysler refused a federal request to recall 2.7 million SUVs with gas tanks placed at the back of the rear axle. The recall was requested due to the risk of the vehicle catching fire.
