Can traffic camera film be used as evidence in a personal injury lawsuit?

Posted on Friday, December 4th, 2009 at 9:17 am

Many cities install traffic cameras at busy intersections in order to catch drivers who speed. While these traffic cameras can be used for traffic purposes, they also have other uses.

If a driver is involved in an accident and later follows a personal injury lawsuit, then that person may be able to use the traffic camera film as evidence for his or her case.

Although the film is not permissable in all circumstances, it is typically allowed when the film shows reasonable evidence that one party caused a traffic accident.
