A two-vehicle crash on icy Canfield Road sent four people to the hospital on Thursday, March 1.
to Black Hawk County sheriff’s deputies, the crash happened at the 900 block of
North Canfield Road around 8 a.m. Reports said 24-year-old Sherrena Ruenger of
Cedar Rapids was driving northbound on Canfield Road when she crashed head-on with a southbound van that had lost control on the icy road while coming around a curve. The
van was driven by 78-year-old Robert Shreve. Ruenger sustained non-life threatneing injuries
and was brought to Allen Hospital, while Shreve and two other unidentified passengers
were brought to Covenant Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries they sustained.
Shreve was cited for losing control of his vehicle.
